Buggies

In order to retain the character and peacefulness of the course, we have 3 buggies at Thorndon. These are available for hire, but generally only for those who would otherwise be unable to play the course. Buggies must be booked in advance.

Play

Two or three balls is the preferred format of play. If you wish to play four balls please make this known at the time of booking. Play is from the yellow tees. Maximum handicaps allowed are Men 24 and Ladies 36. Confirmation of handicap may be requested.

Speed of Play

We recognise that during your visit to Thorndon you will want to relax and enjoy your golf. However, no-one enjoys waiting to play at every hole, and we would appreciate every effort made to keep up a good pace of play. Members at Thorndon, who are familiar with the course, would expect a four ball to take no more than 3½ hours, and a three ball rather less.

Catering

We take pride in offering a flexible catering service so please discuss your needs with us. Please let us know of any change in numbers for catering at latest 48 hours prior to the day or a charge will be made. If you have any special dietary requirements these can of course be catered for by prior arrangement with the Restaurant Manager or the Chef.

Pro Shop and Prizes

Our Professional shop is stocked and operated by Centregolf, the leading stockist in Essex of competitively priced equipment ideal for gifts and prizes. If you would like the team to arrange your prizes, or put together welcome packs for your guests, please contact them through the main number or direct on 01277 810736.

Booking

Please confirm your booking at least 7 days prior to the date of your visit. The Club will make every effort to accommodate late changes, but reserves the right to charge for non-attendees.

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of £15 per player is required at the time of booking. The balance is to be paid on the day either by cash, cheque or debit card. We also accept most major credit cards, but not American Express.

Insurance

Please note that guests are NOT covered by the Club’s insurances. Players should have their own cover.

Security

We have an access control system at the entrance to the drive. Please make sure that all players note the code before leaving the clubhouse. Please put your clubs away between/after rounds either in your car or under the covered way outside the Pro Shop. Please do not leave them next to the 18th green. We can store your prizes safely until your prize-giving. All property left on the Club premises is left at the owner’s risk.
